In this edition of LiGHT24, the UK's premier lighting event, O/M took visitors on a unique journey: a dive into time, where tradition and innovation meet to transform how we perceive light.
An experience that reinforced the essence of the brand: transforming light into a tool for well-being, blending tradition and modernity with the expertise of those who have illuminated stories for over 60 years.
O/M: A Circular Story
At the heart of the O/M stand, the concept “A Circular Story” came to life — a celebration of the brand’s roots and its vision for the future, expressed through three interconnected pillars:
- Light that transforms: Solutions designed for human well-being, promoting comfort and quality of life.
- Tailored innovation: Flexibility and creativity in custom projects that meet each client’s unique needs.
- Sustainability with impact: Local production and responsible practices that respect the environment and workers.
An immersive experience to tell a story
The circular stand, organized into six niches, offered a visual and sensory experience: each space highlighted product components connecting past, present and future. This concentric layout reveals how O/M combines the best of classical practices with the latest technological innovations.
Box 1 | Time for Reflection
The exclusive Lightcore reflector reflects O/M's commitment to innovation, concentrating 90% of the light into the beam for precise, waste-free illumination.
The One family enhances visual comfort with the dark light effect, combining low UGR with exceptional cut-off angles.
The new GOLD optic adds a touch of sophistication: micro gold particles in the reflector intensify warm tones, promoting well-being and evoking the ancestral light of fire. Even when turned off, it stands out as a jewelry piece. With technology and elegance, O/M redefines the essence of light.
Box 2 | Beautiful Inside and Out
Since the 1960s, O/M has been creating luminaires that go beyond function, combining meticulous design and noble materials, such as copper and brass, for unique and exclusive projects.
In 2012, we streamlined our catalog to classic finishes like white and black while preserving customization for special projects. Now, we’re bringing back the artisanal essence and reintroducing distinct and varied finishes that connect tradition and modernity, maintaining the flexibility that defines O/M.
Box 3 | Discreet and Built to Last
The Tua bollard combines robust design with advanced technology. It offers maximum protection (IK07/10, IP65) and corrosion-resistant finishes, suitable for challenging outdoor environments.
Developed in collaboration with architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, Tua meets three demands: zero light pollution, zero glare, and uniform illumination of a 30 m² floor area with just one piece, at 90 cm in height.
With transverse optic, developed in partnership with an automotive lighting specialist, and also longitudinal optic, Tua stands out for its functional and environmental performance, reaffirming O/M’s commitment to excellence and sustainability.
Box 4 | Tunable Precision
Tunable White adjusts the light’s color temperature, creating dynamic, personalized, and comfortable environments — key objectives of O/M.
We internally developed technologies that ensure seamless transitions between cool and warm tones in products like the One, inVision, and Uw.
With a focus on quality, O/M’s R&D team avoids aberrations and unwanted effects. Examples such as the new One 150, with advanced "mixing chamber" technology, highlight the precision and aesthetics that define us.
O/M redefines the flexibility of light while maintaining the highest standard of functional and visual performance.
Box 5 | Longevity Plan
At O/M, we design luminaires that evolve over time. The modular design allows for quick replacement of components such as LEDs and reflectors, extending lifespan and simplifying maintenance.
This approach reduces costs, facilitates technological updates, and offers aesthetic flexibility. Reflectors and finishes can be adapted to follow trends or client preferences, keeping each piece up to date.
O/M progressively transforms luminaires into durable and customizable investments, combining functionality and elegance to meet the demands of today and tomorrow.
Box 6 | Innovative Tradition
The Ice lamp is a classic icon of O/M. Created from Portuguese marble waste, it was born from the collaboration between architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, O/M, and a local artisan, celebrating conscious material use and community integration.
The Ice reflects the essence of O/M: tradition paired with innovation, with design and technology exported from Portugal to the world. This sustainable approach maintains a commitment to local production rooted in our origins.
More than a design piece, Ice embodies the past, present, and future that O/M seeks to balance every day.
